The Team Behind Ora del Garda

Meet the editor behind Ora del Garda. We're a small, independent team writing honest English and German guides to Lake Garda based on first-hand experience.

The team

Ora del Garda is a small operation. Today that means one editor and a short list of trusted contributors on the ground around the lake. We would rather publish fewer pages we can stand behind than chase volume.

Loïc Moncany — Founder & Editor

Loïc has been visiting Lake Garda since 2015, splitting his time between the windsurfing crowd in Malcesine on the northeast shore and the quieter olive groves around San Felice del Benaco on the western side. He writes the pillar guides, books and tests every operator we recommend, and edits everything that goes live on the site.

Before Ora del Garda, Loïc spent a decade building independent digital publications and learned the hard way that the only thing readers really pay for — with their attention and their trust — is honesty. That is the standard he holds every page on this site to: if it is not something he would send to a friend planning the same trip, it does not get published.

Want to contribute?

We pay €200–400 per published guide for writers who actually live around Lake Garda or visit at least four times per year. We are particularly interested in contributors based in Riva del Garda, Malcesine, Bardolino, Sirmione, Salò, and Desenzano, and in specialists on sailing, windsurfing, cycling, hiking, climbing, and Lugana and Bardolino wines. Email hello@oradelgarda.com with a short pitch, a writing sample, and one paragraph on why you know the lake.
